Hi everyone,
So I had a short exchange with a wonderful lady across the pond so to speak in the South of the gorrrrrgeous USA today. She was wondering about how Feng Shui applies to open plan spaces and whether open plan makes Feng Shui easier or more difficult? Specifically, she was wondering how it works when every area or element mixes with the other as it inevitably would across an open plan building or living/working space.
Well my response to this wonderful lady (you know who you are 😉 was:
I just love to work with open plan spaces – they are my personal favourite.
Why, you ask? And what does this mean for those of us living or working in buildings with lots of rooms?
Okay, let’s take this one step at a time….allow me to take a leisurely amble through this little question with you. J
First of all, remember Feng Shui is about energy. I know you’ve probably heard me say this a million times (or what feels like a million anyway right). Sometimes when I speak to people I can see their frustration when they hear something they ‘already know’ and because they want me to very swiftly move on to the juicy new stuff. Well, this is a good point at which to remind you that the importance of the foundation never fades, even when the rest of the building has been built on top of it and you can no longer see the foundation right. In fact, the foundation becomes even more important once the building has been built on top. So in a conversation or learning situation such as this one, the foundation is the reiteration of the basics to draw ‘conscious’ awareness to them. So with that said we will swiftly go back to the point of open-plan versus lots of rooms.
Feng Shui is all about energy. Energy is everything. So energy is there whether it is a highly populated and crowded space or whether it is a sparse open space. The point is that in both types of buildings with either open-plan or lots of rooms there is energy present in every part of them, it’s just a different way in which that energy is present and interacts.
As a Feng Shui Master, I look at both in the same way at the point of gathering information in order to do my calculations and to find out the tendencies of that building. By tendencies, I mean that just as every type of human or animal ‘body’ has a tendency towards particular strengths and weaknesses, buildings or physical spaces also have tendencies. If you’d like to know more about the tendencies of your building please do contact me.
My personal preference is for open plan spaces – why? Well simply put because the flow of energy has many more paths and is freer. With so many more options available I can be more creative in the application of Feng Shui and it is tremendous fun working with people in this way. So for me, the open-plan space is about embracing clarity of space and maximising the flow of energy to the parts that we want to really accentuate. The best way to explain this is that if for example as a human being you decided that your goal was to run a race, you may then decide to pay attention to exercising particular muscles in a specific way to really accentuate their performance. You may then decide to eat in a particular way that powers up your muscles and gives you the type of energy that really helps running the most.
The important distinction here is that in every way your intention is to look after your body but in this scenario you are looking after it in a way that is particularly about making you stronger for running – in short raising your running performance to attain that particular goal. Just in the same way when I look at an open plan space I look at the flow of energy across it and work the Feng Shui towards a particular purpose. The aim here is to embrace the openness of the space and turn it into an advantage that helps you – yes you. I like the openness because the energy has many more ways in which to flow than a building with lots of rooms.
The other reason I personally like to work with open plan spaces is that the flow of light tends to be better and they hold light more – generally speaking of course. Light is a powerful source of energy for the planet, and for both living beings such as us and our pets, but also for inanimate objects such as our homes and everything contained within them. Now it is worth mentioning here that many homes with lots of rooms also have excellent natural light.
The building with lots of rooms is a different kind of body that is all, it is not necessarily a body that has disadvantages. The building with lots of rooms will be treated differently to get the best out of it. 🙂 So if you are living in a building with lots of divisions of walls in place don’t worry it is not a bad thing – I promise :-). Well, it can’t be bad right – you have two smiles here (lol). By the way, just in case you are interested, I have lived in both open plan and lots of rooms – happily in both depending on the building of course.
So for my wonderful lady who inspired this blog, I would like to say the elements of energy will always mix across areas whether they are combined in a single open space or whether there are lots of walls dividing it. The trick is to know how the interaction of energy works across and then how to work it so it is aimed at a particular purpose. The trick is also to know very clearly which purpose it is that you wish to fire up with the Feng Shui because if you pick the right purpose it will inevitably bring you many more sub-goals alongside attaining that bigger one.
In my new brand that is about to be launched imminently, I will be focusing attention on the impressive capabilities of energy work to pinpoint your life purpose, the one that will genuinely make you happy and leave you feeling fulfilled. In this work I identify this for you, I also identify what has been and is blocking you so that ‘we’ may focus our time jointly on getting the most value by clearing your blocks and clarifying the steps that you need to take to achieve your purpose. It’s incredible work and immensely inspiring for both myself and my clients. Over the years I have observed that of all the clients I have worked with, those that have managed to identify the correct goals and clear any personal blocks get much more powerful results from the Feng Shui applied in their buildings and environments. Those that have not been clear about what they want or have personal blocks (quite often that they are unaware of) still get results but not nearly as prevalent. If you want to know more about this or have any questions then please contact me directly and I will be happy to give you a free taster session.
I hope you have enjoyed this and if you feel it was helpful please help me reach others who may benefit from it by sharing it onwards.
I would welcome any questions that you may have and look forward to sharing more with you all. In the meantime, contact me if you’d like to have a free taster consultation or if you’d like to discuss how I may be able to help you.
Sending you warm Kurly-energy J
